Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child
Since 2009, Bethany Baptist Church has partnered with Samaritan’s Purse in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child. This project delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world in Jesus’ name. These tangible expressions of God’s love help ministry partners share the Good News of Jesus Christ, God’s Greatest Gift.
Bethany individuals, families and groups pack shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, clothing, and school supplies, both fun and practical gifts, that open doors for evangelism, discipleship, and multiplication all over the world. One box touches not only the child receiving it, but their entire family and community for the Kingdom!
Local Christians are trained and equipped to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in a child-friendly way at outreach events where children receive these surprise shoebox gift along with The Greatest Gift booklet. This booklet, used in 97 languages, shares Scripture passages and the message of salvation. Many shoebox recipients then participate in a 12-lesson discipleship program where they learn to follow Jesus and tell others about Him.
Bethany also serves as the local Drop-Off location for Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties during National Collection Week in November each year. As a Drop-Off location, we serve our western U.P. brothers and sisters by delivering their shoeboxes to the greater area distribution center, and then around the world.

Pray: Please pray year-round for the children who receive our shoeboxes; for our local, regional, national, and international teams, plus our ministry partners, missionaries and pastors as they serve by distributing, organizing outreach events, and sharing the Gospel.
