Here at BBC we try to minister to the students at MTU, Finlandia and Gogebic by connecting students with families from BBC, thus creating a “home-away-from-home”.
Each fall we look for families and students who would like to participate in this ministry. Additionally, this year we are seeking someone to help coordinate our Adopt-A-Student ministry!
Here are some things that families have done with their students:
- Weekly meals
- Offer to let student use their laundry facilities
- Sunday dinner after Sunday School
- Game nights
- Getting projects done — some of our students are amazingly handy at house/car projects!
- Walks with the family dog
- Cooking together
Furthermore, families may benefit from having a college student who may be willing to help watch their children, houses or pets when the family is away.
More than all of this – we have such a neat opportunity to share love and hospitality with these kids, many of whom are VERY far away from their families. Consider being a part of this ministry this school year! Look for a sign-up table in the back of the sanctuary in September!
If you have questions about this ministry please contact the church office or Julie Cischke.
